Technical Analysis – Hero motocorp share price

The technical price action chart of Hero motocorp on the monthly time frame is shown below. The study is undertaken based on our experience in the markets and our past learnings.

The boxes in the picture above indicate the non-trending phases of the price. The first breakout was observed at the level of 890 in the month of February 2009. The price rose to the level of Rs 2279 by May 2012. The price is in a sideways trend till the next breakout in the month of May 2014. The second box indicates the price action from August 2009 till April 2014. The range of this sideways movement is from 1475 to 2279. The investors who bought the shares during such time periods must hold the shares with a lot of patience as the rally they will get after the breakout of this range is not to be missed.

As observed here, the breakout of the level of 2279 resulted in a high of 3269 within 6 months. This is almost 50% returns from the breakout time. So five years of pain of holding was wiped out within a five-month period.

The price consolidation came back and it remained from December 2014 till July 2016. The range this time was from 2279 to 3269. The breakout was observed in August 2016 but the price failed to sustain it. It fell back to the mow of 2849 and bounced back to reach a high of Rs 4091.95 in September 2017. After this all-time high price, the fall started in the share price, and the low of 1475 was observed during the COVID-19 crash in the world markets. The price again rose to make a high of 3629 in the month of February 2021 but again fell back to a low of 2150.

The third box is the largest one and it represents a large non-trending phase in price action. This phase is almost four years long and is still continuing. The range of this phase is almost 1090 points barring the COVID-19 fall. Once the breakout is there on the upside, the returns will be lucrative. It is to be noted that the breakdown may also be there. So the charts need to be carefully observed and studied.

As you can see, the price action resulted in the Cup and handle pattern. The same is drawn in the above chart picture as well. The target for the stock post the breakout from the handle is the depth of the cup and the stop loss will be half of the depth of the cup. So post the breakout, which is still to come, the target would be approximately 2200 points and the stop loss would be 1100 points. Investors need to observe the price action keenly so that they may identify the same in the upcoming months.

The above chart reading is as per our learning and experience in the markets. It is not an investment advice. The technical analysis is only for educational purposes and learning for readers.
